Kate Scott // Head Writer, Scriptwriter, and Children’s Author

Kate Scott is a versatile creative force in children’s entertainment, working across animation, live-action television, theater, radio, and literature.

As head writer for Sky Kids’ “Happy Town” and having written for numerous animated series, she has worked with major networks including Disney, Netflix, and CBeebies. Her impressive portfolio includes script editing for “The Christmas Letter” (narrated by Kate Winslet) and writing for successful shows like “Chip and Potato,” “Chuggington,” and “The Hive.”

Scott has demonstrated particular expertise in pre-school animation, serving as head writer and story consultant for international series. Beyond television, she is an accomplished children’s author whose books have won awards and been translated internationally, including “Just Jack” and “Giant,” both shortlisted for multiple awards.

Her creative range extends to theater, with plays performed at venues including the Salisbury Playhouse Studio and the Pleasance Theatre, and to radio, where her plays have been recognized by the Nick Darke Award and BBC Writer’s Prize. She is also a published poet whose work has been featured on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Poetry Please’ and in literary magazines.

Currently, she is developing new animation projects while working on her latest stage play, “Eat,” scheduled for rehearsed readings in 2025 with Hinterland Theatre CIC.
